So I recently got an old Sporter Enfield The thing's bot a full barrel, which is nice, but it's been parkerized, which is not so nice, as it makes the markings hard to read. I've managed to find the meaning behind some of them myself, like the M47C on the bottom of the receiver near the magwell means it was a BSA receiver, and if I'm not mistaken the 23 (over) N on the barrel could mean GP Dennis. I managed to find the arsenal stamp under the park, very hard to see, is No4 MkI ROF(F) 3/43, and the circle-D on the barrel means it's draw-lapped, and I know the bolt has LB arsenal marks and a C-broad-arrow, and I believe the receiver does too. What I'm wondering is about some other marks I can't determine.
There's a mark on the barrel, it looks like a weird n with an o in the top of the n, similar to the one seen here: hxxp://www.allaboutenfields.co.nz/wp-content/gallery/markings-and-disks-1/crown-15-n.jpg but with the numbers 21 underneath it.
The barrel also has a deep and prominent mark that looks half-way between a L and a T, it has a deep mark making it look like an L, and then a mark that goes half-way as long on the other side making it almost look like a T. Near this is an R7 mark on the barrel. I don't think the R7 is rust, as the barrel is shiny inside and the rifling prominent.
There also appears to be an E (over) 6 marked on the barrel, the E noticeable, the 6 faded.
There's another small but noticeable L on the barrel.
Near the magwell on the receiver is a P (over) broad-arrow stamp, seems like a property stamp but I can't find out which, as there's no Q anywhere near it, which I know would be Queensland Police.
On the tip of the barrel is stamped CAI ST A VT (over) 303B UK. I know this is a civilian sale stamp, I'm just not sure who (maybe Century Arms?)
There's also a small flag-looking proof-mark on the receiver near the buttstock, but no other marks than the flags, no letters or numbers above or below it. I know it's a proof mark, but with a lack of numbers and/or letters I don't know from where.
Any help IDing some of these marks would be great, as I'd like to know more about this gun. I know it's got 2-groove rifling on it as well, if that helps with anything. I've been scouring the internet already myself, but these are what I can't find info on. Strangely, despite being a British gun, there's next to no British proofs on it anywhere. I could try to post pictures, but due to the gun being refinished with park, some of them are hard to see, and I don't have the steadiest hands for small, detailed photos.
