Was just hoping for some assistance from all the knowledgeable guys and gals on here in regards to my recently purchased Soviet SKS. I have to illusions that's it's any kind of relic but just wanted to know what can be learned about it from its appearance and markings. I'm pretty green to the milsurp hobby so anything would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

1953, the "r" is Russian short hand for - "year of" the square box with diagonal slash is a refurb marking, the star with arrow means
Tula factory made this rifle. Most of the serial numbers will match or be force matched by ###xing out the previous numbers, except
the magazine which is (for us) always a mis-match. I don't know what that 127 stamp on the stock means.
