Hi folks,

I feel dumb. My new Hatsan Escort Pump MPTS OD Shotgun came in with some assembly required. After a few attempts I feel I have to reach out.

The barrel came separate from the receiver and the new owner simple has to slide it in:

When assembled, there's a bit of silver left as the barrel doesn't appear to go in all the way:

The barrel guard has little metal nubs on each side that looks like it should slide right into the two holes:

I've tried to squeeze the guard to fit into the grooves/holes but it won't. I look at the receiver grooves/holes and they appear to be aligned properly:

I've attempted to take a picture of the barrel inside the receiver to illustrate how the end of the barrel doesn't completely sit into the groove prepared for it:

What am I doing wrong here?

Yeah it should fit tighter than that (no silver showing) but I can't recall what you are / aren't doing correctly. You might try youtube - there are a couple of half decent videos out there. Good luck!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

I did try Youtube however its mostly MPA semi automatic shotguns. The few pumps they have are simple assembly/disassembly instructions that show no silver and assemble with ease.

If I remember correctly the bolt needs to be pulled to the rear a bit when installing the barrel...sold mine awhile ago.

Tried it. Didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

I actually just tried to slide it into the receiver without the bolt and under and it still didn't fit?

FML...

I have the same gun and the same issue. The problem was that the barrel was not full seated. The solution was to place the barrel on the carpet and gently tap it on the stock (or just lean on it a bit). Not ideal I know but was the only thing that worked for me. If silver is showing it is not in enough. Drove me crazy until i figured it out. I had the same issue with the semi version. I just put it on a soft surface as to not harm the barrel and then just leaned on the stock and it popped right in.
good luck.

How do you like yours? Any issues? I saw them on sale but was kind of hesitant since I know nothing at all about the brand.

I'm honestly worried I might damage it in some way if I attempt to force it over my own natural strength.

That's why I said a tap. Don't go to town on it. The impact force from the mallet might be just enough to seat it though. It's metal, you shouldn't bugger anything if you don't go He Man on it. (and judging by pc_8048's response this very well might work)

Makes sense thank you for the help.

I'll try in when I get home and report back.

Its exactly what you two said it would be.

Lined up the two holes and gave it a good tap.

Worked like a charm. Thank you both!

Remember for next time that the bolt needs to be in the HALF position when removing and installing Hatsan barrels.
