Help! Info needed on Mossberg 352k b

My buddy's Mossy has some serious loading issues. What is the name of the part on the inside of the reciever directly above the bolt? It looks like a long silver colored bar that slides forward and back. When the action is opened, this little bar slides freely back and forth, once the clip is inserted the bar prevents loading/cycling of ammo. With a round in the chamber, the little bar still moves freely. Is it repairable? Can parts be found or is he fubarred? Thanks, -Jason

Yes I'm sure it can be fixed/replaced...
Might be a broken extractor, but I'd have to see it myself.
