Hey guys, new member here.

Ive got a few questions for you people. Im looking into buying an AR-15 series rifle. This will be my first AR-15 ive ever owned, but I'm extremely familiar with these types of rifles (In the reserves).

Anyway, I went to my gunshop today asking them if its possible to pick up a AR15. They showed me one Armalite, and I wasnt really impressed with the rifle(Dont get me wrong, Armalites are great, I just didnt like the setup). I then proceded to ask them if it were possible to pick up a bushmaster. They told me to not even bother and bushmasters are not possible to own in Canada. . ..(what!? is this true?).

I then asked them if it was possible to maybe pick up a colt, and they said they werent sure about that either, and if a colt ever did come in stock, that it would cost me around 2000 dollars. . . .Ok, I dont mind paying that much, but is that a regular price?

Basically, theyre making it hard for me to pick up a AR15, is there any other way that I can pick one up? Maybe a different shop? Is it true that bushmasters are impossible to pick up in Canada, or are they feeding me BS.

Im going to ask them tomorrow if its possible to pick up a STAG, alot of people on these forums rave about them so why not. Theyll probably tell me no to that too. I honestly dont think they know alot of what theyre talking about.

Thanks

Bull####...I own a Bushmaster XM15-E2S (Shorty A3 Flat-top) just like the Colt M4 Carbine, but with no step cut for the M203 Granade Launcher.

I bought it at Al Simmons gunshop in Hamilton/Burlington brand new for $1,700.00. And yes you can get Colt M4's in Canada but are a little more expensive at (Just like you stated) $2,000.00. But I found the Bushmaster to be better quality, and a better price.

Try a different gun store in your area, or tell him/them specifically that you want a Bushmaster or Colt, and tell him to stick that Armalite up his arss.
He's probally stuck with it and has to sell it to someone before he can get some real AR-15's in (Bushmaster).

Good luck on purchasing your AR-15.

call wolverine, or the Edge, or go somewhere else (Quest or the other guy out in NFld).
they are all available in Canada.

How about STAG? they should be able to pick one up no problem, ArmsEast is a Canadian Distributor correct? Their rifles are a great price and great quality apparently.

I was looking at getting the modle 1R http://www.armseast.com/righthandrifles.html

Is that an American price? $1495 If not, the shop cant bump up the price and try to jip me right?

Thanks again

P&D Ent in Edmonton has Bushmasters in stock. Questar on the board also carries them. The supply on Colt has dried up. Making most of them over price. Stag is a good brand. It's parent company currently has the contract to overhaul the US Army's M-4s.

Alright, well Ill see if I can pick up a Stag then. Good enough for the army, good enough for me :)

Im not very experienced with the whole buying firearms thing, If a place in edmonton has rifles in stock, would I have to pick it up, or could they send it to me.I live in Sault Ste Marie, not very easy to go to edmonton for a rifle.

Tab, the arms east price is in CDN dollars, as they are a cdn store... once the transaction is approved by the CFC, ArmsEast will courier the rifle to you as per mailing of a restricted firearm.

enjoy

Tab just my $.02 cents but if you are in the market for a AR and are not in a hurry, go for the LW/POF that will be available in Cdn in the near future. Price should be the same and the piston design is superior. Here's a start

Ill probably be wanting to pick one up in March, and from the looks of things Ill probably be going with Stag, if the gunshop can pick one up.

Thanks anyways though, I went to the site, I couldnt find what exactly you were talking about? All they had for sale were custom rifles. At least thats alll I could see

Well Id like to thank everyone here for helping me out, thanks alot. Once again Im not too familiar with firearms purchases, this is my first lol

TAB, check the sites at the top of the page.
Bushmaster, Armalite-P&D
Wolverine-Armalite
Questar-RRA
Armeast-Stag
Plus ellwoodepps has a couple of Colts on their site. Of course you must have a restricted PAL to buy an AR but I'm sure you know that already.
It can be done over the phone but they will require a copy of your PAL to refer your purchase to the CFC for approval.

Well basically its a piston design, PM 48th Texas Highlander and he can bring you up to speed. If I was buying a new gun, this is the way I would go.

Now for a reality check:
DPMS: Despite TSE's best efforts these are rare and shipping is dodgy, I suspect the US DoS is complicit in this.
Bushmaster: The last shipment from North Sylva took over 120 days to arrive and they received 15 rifles...WOW!
Stag: Go ahead and order one, the DoS has moved and raised the import goal post so often it's not funny, I've got three customers who've pre-paid for guns, Arms East have been awesome with near daily detailed updates but no guns as yet.
Colt's: 'Nuff said on this,
Armalite: Easily the best supply chain but they have been put the through the hoops as well. You should have done yourself a favor and picked up the Armalite, you can always change it later, start tomorrow morning and phone all the mentioned dealers and you may find that ARs are not as abundant as some may have you believe.

Its much easier to pick one up through the mail and money orders. Either through one of the trusted dealers mentioned, or in the exchange forum. I haven't had much luck getting anything from the locals.

No argument on the EE forum, that $800.00 Oly Arms you all passed on, I got it and it was mint, early gun with Marietta upper and forged lower which looked to a Quality Parts <Bushmaster>,MP C bolt group and a little SWEEETS 7.62 and the barrel looks new, I didn't like the configuration, but hey, if you don't like the yellow leggo piece, switch it for a blue one.:D

Respectfully...

We have extensive permits in place and approved for a wide range of Bushmaster models (most of which are in stock at our US distributor and arrive here in Canada within 2 to 4 weeks of receipt of customer's order. Our website lists some of the more popular models but others are available upon request. We keep a quantity of stripped lowers and completed lowers in stock.

Permits for most of the RRA line are also approved and in place... though RRA is quoting 6 to 8 week delivery on most rifles. We have stock on RRA lowers (both stripped and complete) for immediate delivery.

We have inventory of 11.5" A3 uppers (manufactured by LMT) that can be purchased seperately or combined with your choice of Bushmaster or RRA lowers... these are awesome rifles and are in stock, ready for immediate shipment.

I have a very nice 24" Varmint Upper sitting here (brand new untouched) that would be a perfect match for an RRA lower with 2 Stage National Match trigger that is also in stock.

I have a brand new 16" A3 upper with M73 Surefire Quad Rail, GG&G BUIS and RRA 2-stage NM lower, 6 position Tactical stock.

I also have a brand new RRA 9mm CAR A4 sitting here in the box ready to go.

Finding COLT's (LE versions) in the US is near impossible and the prices are ridiculous... on that we agree.

Get your dealer to order some Stag's by all means. ;)

But... if you don't already have one coming next week, you probably won't have one in your hands until mid-March. If you want a rifle right now, the Armalite is there and I'm sure is a fine rifle. I'd buy it, or get Mr. Wolverine to ship you the rifle you want.

With the approval of the 'Canadian Export Model Stag-15' and a couple of other advancements, the inventory/supply situation will bulk up over the next few months.

My 2c,

DT
