Help locating bolt gun

Hey fellas, just looking for help finding a rifle chambered in 308.
I was wanting an 18” or 16” barrelled bolt gun. Something already in a Magpul hunter stock or anything that is AICS mag compatible.
I’ve been tossing the idea of a savage scout 16” around as an option, but I’m thinking no; because I already have an optic (primary arms 3-18, 308 hud dmr). And don’t want to spend more $ on a decent long eye relief optic.
I can’t find much that is 18 or 16 inches that isn’t 5 grand.

I’m leaning toward something more affordable, sub 1200

I think you can mount a conventional scope on a ruger scout rifle if you remove the scout rail and add a regular scope rail! And They are AICS mag compatible

I was thinking a Ruger ranch, but i haven’t found one in 308, only 223 and x39.

I didn’t know you could do that with the savage scout, good idea. To be honest I was kind of looking for something out of the box that I wouldn’t have to mess with

783 in a MDT chassis ?

I had no idea the 783 could fit a MDT chassis. I thought it was a newer cheap fudd gun with no aftermarket.

Does the MDT take AI Magpul Magazines like the Magpul Hunter stock?

Not sure about mags,other than they take AICS mags.
I have a 6.5 CM 16 inch barrel and its shooting. 6 MOA.
It has an adjustable trigger that's pretty good ,as well.
I have mine adjusted to 2 1/2 lbs.View attachment 457868

Very nice. That’s what I want to do, something lightweight and handy, 16 or 18” that takes Magpul AI mags.

It's not the lightest rig,that's for sure.
Probably around 9 lbs.
But it's not bad,I took it on a few walks, didnt feel any different than my 7mm xbolt SS

If you're ok with a 20"bbl take a look at the Ruger American Rifle HUNTER.
Sells for around $1,000.00 and takes Magpul PMAG5 7.62 AC mags.
