I'm looking at some surplus rifles, and the serial numbers look like they both have a "T" added to the front of the serial number. I am new to surplus rifles. Is that something that was added? And is it something to be concerned about? Thanks for any info.

P.S. I did do a seach and couldn't find anything

If they are Swedish mausers that is for Torpedo........means regulated for 140gr bullet..................Harold

Ones a CZ K98 with the T at the start of the serial number in a different font, and the other is a Number 1 mk III Enfield with a T added to the end of the serial number in a different font. I guess my question would be better to ask is this a kind of surplus marking?

Here's one of each, sorry never though to post them earlier, and the SMLE pic is poor

I don't think either one of those "T's" (if that's what they are), are related to the serial number. The first on, one the mauser looks like a makers mark, the second one is standing alone, like a proof mark, not a serial.
