Help Marlin 1895 issue

Hi , i need help to know how to fix that .

I buy a brand new Marlin 1895 gs from Lebaron , and i receive it november 28 .
The rifle same to be rough Inside the action and have many sharps edge on but is not the more bad thing i have on .

I find in cycling the lever , is not close enough .
They have a pin Under the action supossed to be pushed in by the lever when he close to engage the firing pin .
but the most far i can close the lever is about the half way need to complet push the pin in .
Hard to tell like that i will try to show picture here .

yes i think about it , but Lebaron don't pay shipping for the return , so i have to pay shipping back to they store , and pay again for another shipping when they send the new rifle to me .
they charge me of 40$ each time , so in all if the second rifle is ok i will have pay a extra of 120$ for .
 
I had the exact same problem with a Remlin 336SS. I had my local gunsmith work it over. Every internal part needed work.

At full rate - the bill would have been $160. It pays to do regular business with a gunsmith.

I would return it and look for a JM 1895 on the EE. A re-work will not be covered under warranty.
 
do you can tell me the name of your's gunsmith .
What Lebaron Manager told me (10 minutes ago) , is if i return it to the store they will inspect it but because the gun can work with that issue they will not refund or change it .
I have to stay with it , next time i will buy another place . Is bad because lebaron have very good price and with membership card we have 10% off all items .
 
That is very poor business! They should take it back regardless of the problem. I wouldn't be taking no for an answer on returning a new rifle with a problem...
 
i will call them back Monday , on my invoice is write this gun was inspected twice before sending to me ., to find a way to replacement , and i contact gravel agency in quebec city to know if is nothing they can do .
I wish i will have better answer from them , next time i will buy from cabelas or other store like that with better warranty of quality .

You'll pay a lot more than that trying to get a lemon to run, long term. Swallow the $120 touch, and get a different gun. Not a Remlin.
 
i will try to get refund for that , if i have to take my lawyer in that i will .
Is just too bad , Remington make lot of gun firearms but that his is totaly garbage , i have hear Remington have improved they Marlin quality , many review on make me believe is true.
Maybe Lebaron have old version and not the newest . I have another one 6 month ago and is like charm better than my old Marlin "JM" .
But i gonna ask refund and nothing other , safe money and buy chiappa 1886
 
I am sorry to hear you have problems, however did you try adding a little oil to see if that helps. In my experience the quality of Marlins has improved greatly since the end of 2012 and I have had both a 2013 and 2014 manufactured rifles which were both better made than the pre-Remlin rifles I have owned. I would be curious to know when you rifle was made, since it might be old stock. You can determine this by looking for a two letter code on the left side of the barrel, just in front of the receiver. The code is as follows:

For Remlin guns the 2 letter code on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver indicates the date of manufacture.
The first letter is the month using B-L-A-C-K-P-O-W-D-E-R-X as the code. B=Jan. L=Feb. A=Mar. ETC.

The second letter is the year F=2009 E=2010 F=2011 G=2012 H=2013 I=2014
Using this code, my SBL (code PH) was made in June. 2013

Also what does it say on the left side re where is was made. My SBL says MARLIN FIREARMS CO NORTH HAVEN CT USA, while for GBL's it is Ilion NY

The right side says REP indicating barrel made by Remington.

bad thing , i look on my marlin on left side I*I in front of receiver . so i presumed this is a 2014 .

but my serial number MR81558D , my last marlin i buy was so much good better than my old Marlin JM and have serial number MR81456D , but i make a bad choice and sold it .
the only thing i like on this new model , is he cycle 2.65" cartridges .... my last one to do that have been modified to make it .

but this one take 2.65" overall , 2.658" jam in ... is try with dummy round .

I think the first letter is most likely an L so it was made in February 2014. I would contact the Gravel agency, since if it is a warranty clain it would have go to them. I have unfortunately found that retailers usually do not want to handle the issue and usually want the manufacturer to handle it. The Marlin should be able to handle snap caps without any problem, since both my SBL which I also ended up selling and then regretting it and my new GBL have no issues with snap caps. It maybe that the dummy round you are using is out of the maximum length normally used for a 45/70. I assume you have tried taking it apart and cleaning it, since I have seen posts about one that had crud in it when it was new.

yes clean it , and oïl it . The cartridges stopper are more longuer than my last one , last one i can not cycle a 2.56" in and in this one my dummy i make is 2.10" brass and 405 gr Cast Performance . I seat it high to know how much long he can take , and cycle 2.65" and jam at 2.658" . Is is not the poors stock finish and this dawn lever , the gun are good , nothing can't be fix with a little sanding and polishing . but the lever make the trouble don't know if the hole of the lever are not enough in center , or if the lever are too long , or if is the bolt .

and buy another lever cost 80$ the cheaper i find , so tomorrow i will have answers i wish from both Lebaron & Gravel Agency , I wish one of them will make a good move and refund me or replace me again a good one , but at this stage i better like refund in case to fall again on a dawn " garbage" like i see on internet .
 
i have receive by Gravel agenty a waranty and return file to return to gravel for RMA , they told me they gonna repair and fix the issue . So i not know how many time that gonna take to receive the fix firearms , but i told have lever issue not close enough , and have rough edge scratch brass , and stock not fit with action . , Le baron told me they gonna answer me today , i will wait to know what they have to offer .
