So i was planning on getting a dar-22 but have changed my mind. I already have an old 10/22 i will custom build into a better one.

i need advice on:

receiver
barrel - 12.5" options
trigger
bolt group

also i have my mind set on a hogue overmoulded stock so any reviews or advice on those would be great. I dont want a 2000 dollar 10/22 but would be happy to spend 800-1000 on the parts listed. Maybe the trigger will exceed that limit but im considering just getting a job done on my current one.

Thanks a lot guys :)

Well I'll tell you what I did.

Stock 10/22
Dlask 16.5", around 190 before tax. That's the cheapest bull bbl I've seen anywhere. 12.5" aren't in stock right now I believe.
Tier 1 trigger job from brimstone gunsmithing... Be prepared to wait 4-5 or even 6 weeks turnaround.
Hogue od overmold stock... Just arrived and I LOVE the feel. Heard it flexes but seems stiff to me...
VQ extractor, bought it cause I hear it's a good idea to upgrade when running a Bentz chamber.

All in probably $750-800. Haven't even shot it yet cause I'm waiting for the trigger group still, but I cannot wait for it!

It's up to you how far you wanna go with it, I'm using mine for plinking and grouse slaying so as long at it'll do 1/2 @ 50 yards I'm a happy camper. Good luck and have fun with it, the only downside is sourcing and waiting for parts, its a pain in the ass...

X2 on the dlask barrel.. Only complaint I have is you are better off to shoot the last round then try and manually extract it.. Sch a pain. As for accuracy it is awesome

:DIf you want to solve the last unfired round extraction problem with the XTREME DLASK barrels , buy a KIDD bolt and your problems are solved-- did the job for me on my DAR 22 build:D

Mines totally stock except a power custom hammer and sear. Trigger is awesome compared o stock. Other than that I polished the contact points between the reciever and bolt to a mirror finish. Same with the charging handle, As well I radiused the bolt which all help it cycle any ammo I can find very reliably. I only have stock barrel and am not sure what your going for in the end but those simple mods helped me save some $$ for ammo instead.

You say you want to soup-up your old 10/22 and then you ask about changing all the parts (see bold above)... if you do you no longer have a 10/22, you have a custom 10/22 clone... nothing wrong with that, but just know that it is no longer a 10/22...

My first couple of guns, I stripped down the receiver and rebuilt from there... my last dozen or so have been built from the ground up... my last four have been started with the DAR22 receiver and building from there... I would personally recommend the DAR22 receiver and Dlask barrel of your choice as a starting point... you can go with Kidd or VQ (or others) for the bolt and TG... or you can get a Que bolt (from RFC) and Brimstone trigger job (I can recommend David's work... there is also a dude in BC doing trigger work, but never used him personally... only mentioning this as an "olive branch" from a bad thread... here are a few builds;
