Hey all! I finally got myself onto the AR game with a $70 DPMS lower I bought from The Shooting Edge. I'm "slowly" (not really but...) building it up some to something useful. So far the build consists of:
DPMS Lower $73.45 from TSE
Complete LPK $70 from EE
A1 Complete Stock Assembly $130 from EE
Magpul BEV Block $66.10
Jewell Trigger $??? (bought it years ago for another project)
2x DPMS Barrel Extensions (I plan on doing my own barrel)
How have I done so far?
So, now that the lower half is complete, it's onto the upper half! The barrel will be some flavour of custom ~16" Mid-Length with Rifle length Handguards/sights and an adjustable gas block, all of which will be my own design. However, I am stumbling a little over the Upper and BCG. Is there any difference at all, really? RWTC has this complete package for sale (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1166871-AR-15-Accessories & http://www.rustywood.ca/tactical.html). Would those components be suitable for my rather simple needs? Or is there something that is truly better and justifies a higher price?
EDIT: Primary use is for fun and for use in my club's weekly 3-Gun matches. It just needs to be cool and work well.
