Hi all,

Shopping around for a .270Win for deer hunting (moose as an option) and have found 3 models I like so far:

SAKO 85 FINNLIGHT
Tikka T3 Lite Stainless Bolt Action Rifle
Savage Weather Warrior 16/116 FCSS Bolt Action Rifle w/ AccuTrigger

All are stainless for all weather conditions (which is always a good thing - imo) and have a detachable magazine.
They all are quite light as well, which is a good thing while carrying it all day long.

Anyhow, your comments, experiences are welcome!

Thank you all!

Sako A7 looks like nice candidate as well. The savages are nice shooters as well.I hear the winchester model 70's shoot nice as well.I have a rem 700 BDL in .270 that i bought new in 90 and it shoots most 130 ammo sub moa.I don't know about the newer ones though. The TC icon weathershield seems to have following but i haven't held one personally.

You can almost buy the Savage and a Schmidt & Bender Summit for the price of the Finnlight alone. That is probably what I would do.

If you have $1000 to spend, spend most of it on the scope.

An older Remington 700 will do you fine, as will any Model 70, or Savage.
If money is no object, I would get a T3 Hunter vs Lite. The synthetic stocks are not the best.

I had a very expensive Sako M995 and the stock snapped in half on it.

IMHO have a good look at the new-generation Winchester Model 70's before you make up your mind. Put a mid-price Leupold on it.

Spoil yourself. Go for the finnlight. You will not be disappointed. I at first glance thought the stock a little tupperwary but after shooting I had no complaints. Super smooth action and great fit and finish. In 270wsm mine is an absolute pleasure to shoot with 150g.

I have a Savage 111 .270. The gun shoots 1 inch groups at 100 with factory Federal Premium 150gr. I was bouncing between the Winchester M70 and the Savage when I was deciding on what I wanted, and the final deciding factors for me were cost and the Accutrigger/Accustock.

If you can afford and are willing to pay for the Sako 85, stop looking at the crap Tikkas and Savages. Yes, they all shoot, but the 85 is by far a much better rifle.
