Ok, I have an oppoptunity to purchase a mery much and long wanted BSA International rimfire rifle. I have the choice of one of three models - MK II, III or IV.

Which one should I go for? Cost is not an issue.... spread between MK II & MK IV is about $200 which to me is not a big factor given the asking prices.

The Mark II, was the best model, as related to me by a British target shooter.
It had a solidly pinned barrel while the Mk III has a pressed in barrel. The receiver was split at the front for the barrel and tightened in place by a large screw.
I have two Mk II's now and haven't had a Mark III for many years. I'm just a glorified plinker these days, so either one would be fine for me. I know nothing about the Mk IV's.

I plan on shooting some bench but mostly prone.

I too have heard that MK II was the better of the three models, mainly as stated by Slug due to the way the barrel is fitted into the receiver.

Not sure if it makes a difference but I'm purchasing the model in Left Hand.

I purchased a Mk II for the same reason listed by slug.
I use it for bench shooting only and am completely satisfied with it.
