Hey guys, looking for some advice, im looking to get an AR type rifle, Im leaning towards the Norinco, mainly because of price point, and unlike some people, im impressed with the quality on my Norc pistols. Any suggestions, or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Just do it, there really isn't much advice we can give you, of course there will be the typical round of Commie bashing, but at the end of the day there is just nothing solid.

If you can swing the extra $400, go for the NEA AR15 and whatever iron sights tickle your fancy. The monolithic upper and the M16 BCG is worth the extra $300 in of itself and the $100 will get you good quality back up iron sights.

If you're fairly certain that you don't want to put any accessories beyond a sling and optics on your rifle, then go for the norc and use the saved cash for mags and ammo. :)

That's my advice.

I'd say you can't go wrong with the Norc 14.5", the 10.5" I have has some issues, never heard of many with the new batch of 14.5". I also really like the CSA VZ58 rifles but I guess they are considered "red rifles."

Seen afew Nork AR15s and there pretty good for the price :) "you can always upgrade the parts, bit by bit later ;)"

I have a Norc AR and 2 Armalite ARs in 5.56 and 7.62. The Norc functions just as well but could benefit from a trigger job or complete drop in. As it sits the trigger feels like 2 bricks falling off a cliff, being the wife's rifle it hasn't bothered me much yet. ;)

Go for the Norinco 14.5" barreled version. Mine was flawless and the most accurate AR I've owned. Stupid move by me to sell it.

I am onboard with Starscream's advice here. If it is your first one and can afford it, the monolithic upper and the FA bolt carrier are nice features to have. You might want to upgrade them on a Norc anyway.

The monolithic upper is a neat option as well especially if you are planning on throwing an optic on it.

My $0.02 CAD, plus its good to support a Canadian company rather than the CHICOM.

Buy the Norc (yes, I have one, a 14.5")...and call it a day...spend the money you saved on a new trigger or a crap load of ammo to shoot through it.

I'll be the lone detractor then. I hate to say it guys, but anyone who buys a Norinco AR at today's prices is p!ss!n in the wind and buying a gun that loses half it's value over time.

Don't upgrade a norc (lipstick on a pig) nobody will ever give you your money back, nor anything close to it.

You can now buy quality north american AR's for under $1000 - why would you ever buy Norinco junk???

I can build a copy of the Norinco using readily available Brownells and Canadian-sourced US-made Ar parts for about $800 bucks. I proved it in another thread.

Don't like building? CORE AR's are under $1000. NEA AR's are under $1000 (and nowhere near as problem-plagued as an above poster suggests). NEA's also have a LIFETIME guarantee and are made in Canada so warranty and parts are handled quickly. You can get a Stag M4 clone for like $1100.

But I digress.

Buy the Norc and later, I promise I won't point out that I told you so. 80% chance (from my observations working on these) it will run fine. Change the front handguard cap on it if you want to swap handguards. Just realize it's not a gun you will want to sell as you will take a soaking on it, particularly if you add any upgrades.

Really? Not according to the prices I see on EE. Certainly not HALF its value...otherwise there would be a slew of $350-400 Norc M4s on the EE...and when was the last time you saw one of those?

Keep the factory parts on the Norc, and when it comes time to upgrade, remove all the upgraded parts and swap the factory Norc parts back in.

Really?? Piss poor HG design, various feeding problems, inconsistant finish...the only saving grace to the NEA is the life time warranty, which i suspect will keep NEA busy for years...If you want a cheap functional gun out of the box go norc, if you want to chase the lifetime warranty tail, go with the NEA....d:h:

First off I have no, nada, zero experience with anything Norinco so this is just an observation from the side. Epps has these Norc ARs for 700 bucks...I didn't look around at what anyone else is selling them for so perhaps you can get them cheaper someplace else. Anyway, if I knew I could spend 2 or 300 dollars more and buy an AR made in North America I wouldn't even consider the Norc. For 300 bucks you're supporting something made right here....I can't believe these Norcs are even selling at 700 bucks with the other options around???? Until these Norcs come way down in price, like to the 4 or 500 dollar mark, I'm not even looking at them.
