Help me decide Tavor Vs. Swiss Arms PE90

3) Cleaning a sig after a long shoot is a bit of work. You have to scrape the carbon off the piston face, pass a brush down the piston tube and scrape the gas cap a bit, thats about all thats extra to clean. Thing is the SIG rarely actually needs the cleaning.

+1. The best thing about the SIG is that it'll continue functioning even when it is absolutely filthy and caked in carbon, it's got a gas valve regulator with a setting for heavy fouling of the gas tube.
 
Send me the TAVOR - I have a Swiss arms Carbine and CQB at my disposal. I will write a review.

The Swiss arms will most like be more accurate - it has very a stiff receiver but remember it is 9lbs without a loaded mag. The TAVOR is essentially G36 construction technology. It is a light weight fighting rifle. It really depends on what turns your crank. If you like the more tranditional rifle like FNC, FAL, G3, you probably will appreciate the Swiss arms more. The TAVOR is more of a rifle designed for efficent production method.

The sight basically is 1/3 the price so I dont know why people are #####ing. Its a 2000$ rifle that you can't buy outside the optics package.
 
well since its a thing i'd have to go by (unless someone trades their new/like new EOTech 552 AA to me) that i find to be less than the top (for 3000, it's better to be in the top, or at least strive to be it) so it is a hindrance in a way
 
I've never used a Tavor, but I've used the AUG, FA MAS and SA80 pretty extensively and no way in hell would I take any of them over a PE90. I find it hard to believe the Israelis have done a better job than Steyr. Bullpups generally are pretty crappy IMO for target shooting, they all have crap trigger pulls and are butt heavy.

The only real advantage the Tavor has is that it can use the 10-round AR-15 pistol magazines, but that only really matters if you're into IPSC rifle in a big way and desperately need the extra rounds. And for IPSC a tricked out AR-15 is the better choice anyway, and that can use the 10-round mags obviously.
 
Oh yeah, the PE90 is a proven design (well, relatively proven, not many people use it but several hundred thousand Swiss target shooters prove it works on target ranges), who knows what bugs the Tavor might have.
 
Production has been spotty of the AUG in recent years, because of the plant closure when BMW bought the land. Has any unit actually bought the A3 version?

Personally I think the AUG is heavily over-rated, I've owned four and I tried really hard to like it but I'm afraid I don't. I liked it a bit more after someone showed me how to do a trigger job on them, but it was still grim. It's really hard to get into a decent prone position with the AUG as well as it's a very tall rifle.

The only thing I thought that was cool about it was the vertical foregrip, but that is very passé nowadays, everyone and their mother is making foregrips for AR-15s.
