Time has come to buy my first centerfire pistol, i currently have a GSG 1911. I do like the platform, and a fullsize .45 is on my list to buy as well.
But thats aside the point, i am looking for a gun to punch paper for cheaper than the 45, maybe get into ISPC in the future.

Ive held em both, shot they PPX and the both feel right.

The PPX grip is odd but it fits me perfect, i do like the TP9SA grip as well and i can function the controls better with the TP9.
Id love to buy em both!

What would you buy?

I have only shot the ppx and I really liked it....They are on sale at AL FLAHERT'YS right now for what I think is an unbeatable price ($499).

I am fairly set on a striker fired pistol, for what reason I do not know. I do also like the CZ's. And I suppose I will own both in time.

What would your top pick be in a 9mm? Similarly priced of course.

I haven't held or shot a PPX, but I just picked up a TP9SA this spring. I find the grip,to be quite comfortable and the trigger to,be very crisp. The gun itself was very accurate right out of the box. I had it out last a couple of weeks ago and was able to hit the 50 yard gong with greater ease than a couple of other pistols I had out at the same time.

Ok,

so unfortunately i'm still stuck!

i guess ill have to just buy one and see what i like best. i am a sucker for FDE is my other issue. So the Canik gets the nod there. haha.

Hey, You make a decision yet? Don't know if you've seen those new S&W SD9 VE? I think they're going around $399. That's a stryker fired with stainless slide. No range kit though.

Cheers and let me know if you've already made a purchase and what was it.

Shot PPQ shot ppx. Never shot tp9sa. Prefer ppx over ppq. Its ugly as sin, but it works well cheap enough. I heard the warranty on walthers sucks. Need to find mags for it. SD9VE garbage trigger very iffy gun because its S&W red headed stepchild due to Glock lawsuit. I would myself go to m&p due to warranty and parts availability.

Well I switched gears a bit, to say the least!
Got a sd9ve and picked up a used Sam commander as well. Went into town and handled some pistols, picked up the SD9ve and it fit my hand like a glove. Saw a used one on the ee for a good deal so I snatched it up. Same with the SAM.

Shoukd have em both in my hands this week :)

TP9SA all the way ! The gun is built in a ISO factory, faces 65,000 rounds torture tests, has a dam wonderful trigger to match that of the finest handgun to come off a production line ! Is supplied to military and police forces as a testament to their quality ! Love, just love mine !!!

Handled the PPX, never shot one though. My impression is the PPX is a bulky pistol. The bore axis is quite high and it's almost too rough around the edge but I understand the reason behind it for a price point pistol. Grip is good, trigger is actually pretty good.

I'd go for the TP9SA myself. But there are lots of other 9mms I'd take first.

Are you locked into the idea of a striker fired gun?

The PPX isn't striker fired. It has a hammer. It's a nice pistol to shoot. I prefer my striker fired PPQ though. For the price difference though the PPX is a very nice pistol to shoot. The really high bore while weird when looking at it isn't bad at all when shooting it. The trigger is very good.

I actually think you made a very good choice with the S&W. I own one as well. I couldn't resist for the price they were selling at. The only negative is the trigger. Compared to the newest TP9, or the PPX the trigger sucks. But there is an Apex kit which should turn that issue around. stainless slide and barrel is nice. I prefer my M&P but again for the price the SD9 is a heck of a deal. Also I suspect you will find the accuracy potential is very good. Check out the target crown on the Stainless barrel!

A buddy and I did a huge roundup of various pistols including all the possible choices listed here. There are a lot of very good options out there.
