I have the CZ-858 "Gremlin," where the striker doesn't reset after some shots (or something like that) leading to a round being chambered, but when you pull the trigger... nothing happens (except a dimple in the primer.)

Parts service from retailer is not an option unfortunately. I have a full parts kit. I hear even a trained monkey can swap out the parts if given rudimentary instructions. Could someone please post these instructions? I an what you could call an "entry level" user but I have the parts to swap (spring, receiver cover, trigger stuff, etc...) to go ahead.

Alternately, is there a place I can send it to that knows how to repair it?

To fix this all you need to do is to slightly bend the lower tabs on the rear end of the striker very slightly upwards, this will keep the striker down ensuring good contact with the sear.

What are the percentage of this 'Gremlin' appearing on new rifle, would you say? I will be getting CZ858 in near future, and I would be sure to order the parts kit at the same time, but the problem is, I have somewhat inferior motor skill that will surprise your average trained monkey into shame. I can't replace batteries in my auto-toothbrush without somehow causing it to stop working, so I would like to avoid confrontation with this 'Gremlin' if I can help it. If this is more like 90% of the time problem, I would just give it to someone, like Gunsmith, and get everying replaced by someone who knows how. This is so I can still have faith in this rifle. :):):)

IF you can take a AR15 apart you can take a VZ58 apart BUT remeber If you have to force something STOP and think!!!!!

If Anyone in the Petawawa area needs ahand give me ashout ps am a Wpns tech.

I can take an AR-15 apart [or at least to detail strip], but I don't have any instructions for the VZ beyond field strip. Can anyone post basic instructions for removing the parts involved with the trigger/sear arrangement that need to be replaced?

Also, if there is grease causing this problem, as some have suggested, where would it be? My rifle came in very little grease and I cleaned it anyway, so I am not sure where the action could be getting gummed up.

I've got a VZ-58 (restricted) does this problem show up on these rifles or just the 858?

Both. The striker as lots of play, the lower tabs are there just to keep it on the rails. If there is too much play as when the "gremiln" occurs, just reduce the ammount of free movement by taking up the slack by bending the lower tabs upwards. No need for parts kits, this is a two minute fix.

FWIW, I have seen this on maybe half the CZ-858's I've run into (maybe 6 guns out of 12 or so?). I've not yet seen it on any of the 8 or 9 VZ58S' I've handled.

FWIW, I've heard Wolverine is receiving alot of returns due to this issue.

I would surmise not alot of care was taken when they were stripped and then reassembled with the new barrels, etc.
