Help me get a bipod on my 597.

Okay guys, first rimfire, first synthetic stock, first rifle I want to put a bipod on.

What do I need? I see some mount to a sling swivel, some don't? Do i need to install a eyelet on my stock? Is there a type of bipod that comes with everything to mount on a clean stock?

Simple I know, but just want to now have to buy two.

It should go on to your front sling lug, or replace it.

Okay so there is no sling lug, is there a specific kind for a synthetic stock? I see some screw types but I think those are for wood.

Savage Arms has a stud that uses a nut to fasten it to a synthetic stock. You may have to do some preparatory hole drilling but it can be done. I had a wooden stock that the front sling stud hole was stripped out so I put in one from Savage. Holds everything very tight.
