Help me get to the NSCC

I am relatively new to competition shooting, and would like to give the NSCC in Ottawa a go! But it is a bit intimidating and confusing! I was talking to a few shooters at the PR match last weekend and was told these matches are alot of fun, so I started looking into things and was hopeing someone could give me some direction, first off does my registration include a dcra membership(and is that all that's required)? And I see the precision matches are spread over the week starting on sunday mon,tues and the falling plates on the fri? is this correct? Aprox how many rounds would I require to shoot all of the matches The walk back And the falling plate match? And last( prob most important) my partner is un Shure of being able to attend SO does anyone need a shooting partner?

I know it's alot to ask but take it easy on me (I am new)
 
NSCC is the same course of fire you did at the PR match, only in meters and it includes all 7 matches (the 300 and 600 yard/meter stages which we didn't do on Sunday)

Contact the DCRA and they will tell you if you need to upgrade your membership.

If you do not have a partner, worst case is you will have to find one there. Let them know when you get there if you are without a partner.

Schedule:
  • The walkdown is on Sunday the 4th
  • Most of the match occurs on Monday the 5th
  • Any stages not shot on Monday, the Falling Plates and Awards will be on Tuesday the 6th

Ammunition recommendations:
  • Walkdown : recommend 5 rounds per distance minimum x 7 distances = 35 rounds
  • Match : 70 rounds + 11 sighters = 81 rounds
  • Falling plates : 5 rounds per heat x at least 3 heats = 15 rounds

Total : 131 rounds bare minimum

I used to bring 200 rounds in case or re-shoots, more heats in the falling plates or difficulties during the walkback. This year I'm going to bring 300 rounds in case my partner has equipment problems and needs to shoot my rifle.

Unfortunately that was the only ORA PR match we will have to practice at before NSCC unless the executive grants the match director's request for more dates. PR shooters need to put pressure on them to do so!

Luckily Milcun/OSA has an NSCC style shoot coming up July 14-15. The individual running this is the same individual running NSCC. So, I would recommend it as a good practice match, especially since their range is in meters as NSCC will be.

btw, you can still shoot the match if you don't have a partner. Someone from another team can spot for you. The only thing is that the only awards you will be eligible for is the individual champion and the tyro champion (make sure to check the tyro box since its your first time).

Oh, and there is also an award (Maj. WJ Molnar trophy) for the top 4 man team which many people don't seem to know about...
