I was gifted this single-shot Mauser last year. Haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but it will happen soon! So far I've been able to figure out:

I'm 99% sure this is the ES 340 B model, even though the stock has no checkering / no finger groove
Serial # starts 181###, which from my research puts it's DOB around 1937
I'm fairly certain this is *not* a 350, because the rear sight cannot be relocated along the receiver.

Both the bore and bluing are in great condition! I feel very fortunate to have received such a beauty.

I appreciate any other details the experts of CGN can provide.

I think you're right about the model number. Looks like the bolt handle may have been altered. There should be a cartouche just above the swivel on the buttstock. There seems to be faint signs of it in the photo, so the stock may have been sanded and refinished.

This seems to be correct.

Here's a picture of some contemporaneous models. Rimfire Central has a number of threads with interesting bits of information.

Thank you both 9.3mauser and grauhanen! I confirm the Mauser cartouche is present on the stock, above the rear sling swivel. Therefore I don't believe the stock has been refinished. I agree with the suggestion that the bolt may have been altered - the entire bolt handle assembly is not blued, and the shape and angle of the bolt handle on my rifle are very different from the photos of other es340b's. Also, the "flag" safety on the back doesn't rotate - it appears to be pinned in place (or just siezed). All indicators that the bolt is not original! The investigation continues....

EDIT: Upon further Youtube research, the flag safety isn't seized nor pinned, it was just stuck. I was able to gently un-stick it
