Hey guys,

I saw a scope at a local pawn shop and had a look at it, but wanted to see what it would retail for. Problem was it didn't have a name on it so I will try my best to describe it to see if one of you knows what brand/scope it is.

I will also say I know jack about optics so some (all) of my terms will be off.

Alright, it was a 4-10x40 scope with the three adjustment knobs in the middle (one on the left, one on the right, one on top). One of them (the right side one) had a large white letter B on it - I'm assuming the brand?

It also had a pretty flimsy looking - but large - 'on/off' switch on top of it, on the side you'd have your eye closest to.

Lastly, it was made in Japan.

Hope any of this helps and someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks a lot.

ps. he was asking $145 for it.

B is usually for Bushnell. The on/off switch and the third turret (battery housing) probably means an illuminated reticle.

So, go to the Bushnell website and look for a 4-10x40mm model with illuminated reticle. If you don't find its likeness, it may have been recently discontinued so try big retailers' websites and you might find someone who still lists it.

I think the Elite models are still made in Japan (Elites were Bausch & Lomb when Bushnell bought B&L.) Other models are made in different countries according to cost. The cheapest place to have your scopes made is still China, as far as I know. Mid-range Bushnell models may be made in Korea or the Phillipines. I have a Trophy (pre TrophyXLT) which says it was made in Korea.

likely an older Bushnell Scope chief. you could take your $145 and buy a brand new Vortex illuminated for only a few bucks more and get life time warranty. You don't even know if the pawn shop one is in working condition. the one they will replace it with would be worth $45 so why throw your money away?
