Help me out with these Lee Enfield Number 4 markings please

Got this as a trade in. Barrel number, receiver number and bolt number match. Bore is a 2 groove. Safety is LB stamped as was the mag. Bolt head is stamped with an S, bolt and cocking piece look like Fazakerly. It came with cut down sported wood. ‘42 stamped on the barrel just ahead of the receiver. The receiver and bolt like they’ve literally been through a war with the finish on them. No “England” or “FTR” or markings like that on it.

Is it not an Mk 1 “*”?

Any help from you Enfield experts would be appreciated.

lokks like a mk1, think the magazine latch screw would be a pin on a *, sights may have been changed. other than that there’s armourer marks,Birmingham proof marks, Civilian sale proof marks and serial numbers

The serial beginning with 2 makes it a Fazackerly. No "*" is correct for British No.4 and in fact would be suspect if it were there. The bolt release on a No.4 Mk.1 is a plunger behind the charger guide on the right side. The bolt release on a Ni.4 Mk.1* is a slot on the rail just behind the breech. Rough wartime manufacturing and missing the set screw for the striker. Are you sure the safety is Long Branch?
