Help me pick a .44 revolver!

best looking?, no contest, S&W 29-629. I had a 3 " 629 with round butt, I found it very uncomfortable to shoot with full loads and 265 gr. or heavier loads. For carrying the S&W is tops, for actual shooting with heavy loads I will stick to my Redhawks.

Apparently the newer 29-629s are much more durable than they used to be.

Well I see that this has been pulled up from last October to find a new life.

Of all the quality guns with good reputations for living long under the pressure of shooting lots of .44mag the Ruger Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk is the cheapest.

And being rather heavy it does soak up the recoil power well. I recently shot 18 rounds of full power ammo almost in one go from my own.

The nice thing about shooing SA revolvers in these big boomer rounds is that the gun rolls in the grip a little and really eases the amount of felt recoil compared to a more hand filling double action style like the S&W 29 and Redhawk guns.

And being SA with the slightly slower loading and unloading it helps slow down the consumption of ammo while giving your hands a bit of a break... :D
