Help me pick a semi-auto

Somebody here posted the top ten of the best fifty shot-guns!

And of course Purdy SXS was number one (this was a shot gun related magazine)and Rem 870 next,then Browning super ,Farmers,Rem 1100,A-5,Rem mod 12,(then the dove killer )AL-390,westly richards,and then the parker!

I would go with the AL 390! And I own five of the ten!

Sigh... the local store's sale was nothing but a big disappointment. All the guns are still way overpriced (the SBE2 is still more expensive than SIR after discount!)... the only I got out of the store was a couple of free donuts.

Looks like the SX3 is in order. Gonna call up WSS soon I gather.

Lebaron is offering 20% discount if you buy their membership for $28. You could get a black SX3 for $880.

i went in two days ago.
i wanted to pick up a new semi auto shotgun and wanted to review the inventory.

they seemed anoyed that i asked " is it worth me waiting for the sale in two days?" and "would you be willing to tell me what models might be going on sale? "

i left and went to Italian and picked up a beretta 391.

I called and got the same answer, the guy on the phone was friendly though, so I went anyway. There were too many people for me to even look at anything properly; people were there paying for guns they hardly even handled!? :eek: Hope the 391 serves you well, let me know how it shoots.

Reeeally? I will have to seriously think about that, that's cheaper than ordering from WSS (I think they quoted me about $950 for the 3"). And my friend has a less-than-satisfactory experience with ordering from them anyway.

EDIT: I am looking at the Lebaron, it says that joining the club will get you 10% off, not 20%? I'm not sure.

Every one gets the 10%, and if you buy the membership you get an additional 10%.

the gun shoots fine. it's me who's the problem.

first three sets off the trap became dust.
then nothing... nothing... nothing... i think -- no, I know -I got a "7" (sporting clay) all day long.

to make matters worse i hadn't closed the case properly and the gun slips out and falls on the concrete out my front door. Now I have to deal with some crappy scratches on the wood.. :runaway:
 
I'm not one to say anything because I could do no better, this is my first year handling firearms/hunting. ;)

Ouch, don't you just hate dings? I mean, nicks and scratches from hunting are unavoidable and I don't mind it at all, but my own carelessness resulting in dings really ticks me off... :mad:
 
Well, looks like I'm outta luck, Lebaron sold its last SX3 (26" too, my preferred length) on the weekend, and they're all out of the 28". :( They don't plan to restock any time soon either...

Should I just wait and buy it in the off-season? (i.e. do shops have sales during off-season?)
 
Whoa, hold on just a darn-tooting minute! I called Lebaron again today, and lo and behold, they have the 26" SX3 in stock!! :D Last one left, apparently there was a mix-up and it wasn't sold yet. Immediately bought it, joining the club. Looks like I am getting myself one sweet toy. Watch out ducks!! :evil:
