help me pick which 223 and 270

i currently use a cz 550 in 308 and a t3 hunter in 6.5X55 and love them both but i beklieve they are simaler in performance and hitting power i want something smaller and something a little bigger i have decided on a 223 and a 270 rifle. guns i am looking at are tikka and cz as i am familure but also like the looks of the browning a-bolt and winchester model 70 and im kinda on the fence about the browning x-bolt and also interested in the weatherby vanguard guns. any advise on these guns would be helpful thanks again:)
 
Tikka T3 Lite is a really nice shooter (had one in .270 and sold it to another CGNr). VERY accurate out of the box and nice action. One thing I did notice though is that the .270's felt recoil was more than my 7mm RM mainly due to the lighter stock. T3 lite weighs in at 6 3/16 lbs.
 
I'd take a hard look at one of the new model 70's in stainless for your .270. I handled one in .270 wsm and the only thing that kept it in the shop was my needing to buy books for next semester.
If I were gunna get a .223 I'd take a hard look at the savage precision carbine. heavy barrel for target and volume shooting but light enough to be a walking gun.

It's obvious to me at first glance. The best near smaller caliber to the 6.5x55 would be the .243 Win. and the next up from the .308 would be the 30-06 or the 7mm Rem. Mag. (in commonly available calibers that is). Having said this, the 6.5x55 will easily double as a varmint gun, while doing duty up to and including moose with the correct bullet. The .308 will take anything up to and including Moose with any reasonable bullet, and some even use it for varmints!! What exactly are you trying to accomplish? If you are just trying to rationalize the purchase of a new gun, well...no need. Just buy the darned thing! :)
 
If you don't mind spending a little anschutz makes a submoa .223 1770, stunning rifle. otherwise CZ may very likely flat out be the best bang for your hard earned $$. Tikka T3 are hard to overlook too.
 
I don't think I'd bother with a .270 if you have a .308 and 6.5x55. It's smaller diameter and bullet weight than a .308, but shoots flatter. That doesn't make it "bigger", you'd probably want a .30-cal magnum to get into something noticeably more powerful. As for the .223, those are total sweethearts and any of the guns you mentioned would be just fine. Vanguards are a bit heavier than the others though, fair warning.
 
The 270 Win is so close to a 6.5x55 you'd never see a difference.....you'd have to go much bigger than a 270 to see a difference...I've had 6.5 Swedes that pushed a 140 to 2750-2800, the 270 will push a 140 to 3000 or thereabouts....200-250fps is nothing to write home about....get a 30 caliber with more case capacity than your 308, 30-06 or larger....and shoot 180's...then you'll be a step up over the 6.5.......but it won't kill deer any deader/quicker than the 6.5 Swede....and get a 223.....
 
thanks again guys this helps i will probably x on the 270 and look at the 7mm mag or the like and will still get the 223 just which rifle it is a fun decision to make im leaning toward a heavy barrel browning a-bolt or t3 for the 223 and either a browning a-bolt or win mod 70 for the 7mm mag ahh decisions
