Help me scope my 7/08

[Wrong Way]

My mountain LSS 7/08 is on the way...time for optics!

Vari-X III 2.5-8 or 3.5-10?

Thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

pick up a VXII 3-9x40mm. I personally prefer the matte black model

put the 2.5-8X Leo (I love them, have two ) on the 7-08...put the 1.5-4.5 Elite 3000 on the 300SAUM

Actually, the elite I bought from you is going on my .44 Ruger carbine.
(Besides, The 2-8 on the 300 is black!)

I still think that 3.5-10 silver Leupy you had for sale would be pretty sweet on the mountain LSS.......

Leupolds are nice and light.

VX III 1.75-6x32 we have one left.

VX II 3-9x40 a few of these as well...

No 2.5-8x

OK it's down to two Vari-X III's. What would suit a 7/08 Mountain better....2.5-8X36, or 3.5-10X40?

I'd go with the 2.5-8x36. I't would go nice with the proportion of the short action.

The 2.5-8 is a good fit for your gun, and if it comes down to having an 8x or 10x for the kill, then don't shoot. The 2.5 gives a great FOV too.

If so, that would be even better,and even more expensive

they are 36mm Obj only, and bright enough that you probably wont ever notice the difference between them and the 40mm 3.5-10

I read recently in an american gun mag that the 36mm objective is the optimum size, and the author said anything larger is a waste. hmmm
