I have fondled the CZ 75 SP-01 & SIG P226. The CZ fit my hand better, but the SIG is my preferred because it's a beauty.

I need your experienced opinion:
1) Which one & why?
2) Why (or why not) buy the Norinco version?

Go with which ever one feels more comfortable. A gun no matter how purdy won't make you too happy if you're miserable when shooting it. On that I'd go for the CZ.

I shoot the Sig better because it fits me better. Don't discount a Glock 17 or 34 either, they work well for most people. I don't buy Norinco anymore because I just can't stand the hit or miss quality control.
I'm betting you won't regret either gun no mater which you pick.

Go CZ its cheaper and shoots just as good. Also if the glove fits wear it dont buy the pretty, buy the one that fits you.
I ve never shot Norincos but have seen them and there not pretty and they are hit are or miss.
I own a Glock 17 and use too own a Sig 226,I can tell you Sigs are good but not $1200 good.

My first choice is Glock, second CZ and third Springfeild XD

Thats just my 2 cents

The choice between a pistol that fits and one that 'almost fits' is simple...buy the one that fits. ;)
If your preference is for an all-metal pistol and you're not interested in/looking at polymer-framed pistols, you might want to handle a Springfield XD pistol. It's the most 'un-polymer' feeling polymer-framed pistol on the market, AFAIK.

+1

Go for the one that fits your hand the best. I've been thru the Berettas, S&W's etc. Tried out the Sig. But when it comes to the 9mm the Browning Hi-Power MkIII fits me best. Next best fit for me is the CZ-75/85. Go with what fits you best.

You should also consider FN/Browning Hi-Power, unless the double action aspect is important to you. However, of the two options you listed, Sig is clearly a better gun. It has better fit and finish, better trigger (the factory trigger on new CZ is quite nasty, although I hear it cleans up somewhat after a few hundred rounds) and is arguably more reliable. However, the flip side of the coin is that you almost buy two CZ-75s for the price of one P226. Oh, and forget the Norinco clones – they are nowhere near being comparable to the originals as far as quality and reliability are concerned (Sig copies tend to be particularly problematic – do a search on this board for the various problems people have been experiencing).

i am a die hard sig fan and you could not pry my p226r st from me. Having said that i always found CZ not really interesting until i got a sp01 in my hands. very nice gun so it a mater of should i get the BMW or the Audi ? very tough call and basicly a matter of personal preferences

I bought a factory referbished Sig 226 9mm for my first gun and I have no regrets. I get complememts from guys at the gun range all the time.

They are all good guns you have thought about buying. I would go with a gun that fits you like a glove, the CZ is a great gun that won't let you down for hitting the target consistantly, but I just picked up a Glock 17 and I would buy another in a heart beat! Good luck, and like others have told you, don't go with one that just looks nice. Never buy one of those damn Norinco guns, you want quality guns to show off!

Sig 226 is a good gun but for me SP01 is a better gun, may not as beauti as 226 but look really hot. Since the SP01 and Beretta 90 two come to the market and I no longer wish to own a sig anymore. I have a CZ 75B and I really know CZ's quality and will take a SP 01 as soon as I have enough green. Buy what fit you the best. Shoot them and compare if possible.

I have small hands and I bought a SIG :( bad mistake
There are lots of folks who'll take it off your hands, CHEAP! ha ha... (I love the sigs.)
Highpower has a really nasty trigger for a single action, some of my doubles are lighter.... (due to design its nothing like the feel of brownings 1911) BHP tends to chew up a triggerfinger after a long range session if youre a trigger 'low' rider like me. The new 'practicals' also have serious hammer bite issues if you're a 'high hander' like me... CZ is nice, tried one a couple months back, but nothing a HP or Beretta ain't. Certain milspec reliability easy parts find: Beretta92 and Sig226. Wanna spend some serious cash and get a smokin accurate gun? Check out the sig x5's. Bit pricey, but amazing.

First gun should be something that fits like a glove and hooks you into shooting lots and you'll always want more. Try before you buy... what feels great in the store may not suit you at the range. Ask the locals for a whirl. I'm sure for a beer or two they'll let you try anything they got.

Some Glock 17 questions:

Does the Glock 17 fit someone with smaller hands?
Ok for a left hander?

What about the grip angle? I hear it causes the gun to aim high and you have to tilt your wrist downward. (I heard this on the Internet and we all know how reliable that can be. ;))

I have small hands. I have had four 9mm semi-autos. I sold my 92 FS because I did not shoot it right. I am very happy with my Glock 17, Norinco NP-29 and CZ 75. I have changed the hammer and sear in my CZ 75 and it turns out to be a good shooter. I would recommend a Glock 17 to be the first gun. It is simple, accurate, reliable and lots of parts available. I don't like Sig because they are too big in my hands.

Hey, Thanks for the opinions.
You figured right that if the CZ fit better I have small hands. I will nix the Norincos & check out the Glocks and others. Hope I will meet some fellow shooters at the range who will let me try theirs. Wish Montreal was a little closer...
