So basically here is the scoop... I have a 270 win that i bought last year from a old timer... I took it out on a trip last year and used the scope that was on it. Its one of those old cheap Tasco scopes...but i took it anyway to give it a try.... well long story short.. I need a new scope... It seems like the scope moved every time i shot it and was more and more innacurate everytime i shot it....

So.......................

I have been shopping around and alot of gun shops are contradicting themselfs...So I am openeing it up to the board.... I was to spend in the 200-300 dollar range....What do i get and what power....

your opinion is valued.

thanks

You will get a lot of recommendations for either the Bushnell Elite 3200 and the Leupold products. I have looked through each and they are both excellent scopes. Leupold has a 100% lifetime guarantee that is transferable. All you do is send in the scope. Bushnell's warrantee is apparantly also quite extensive, but is not transferable. The VX-1 Leupolds have microfriction adjustments, while the Bushnell sports click adjustments. The Leupold requires a coin or screwdriver, the Bushnell has finger adjustments. All a matter of preference in the end I suppose.

As for power, the good old standby 3-9 x 40 would make a good choice, or if you prefer a more slender scope, a 2-7 x 33 isn't bad either. There is no need to have more power than this on a hunting rig, and the ability to choose lower power will enable easier target acquisition in the bushes, while still allowing you to get up close and personal on those longer shots.
