My mod 70 xtr push feed .338 has let me down 2 weeks before my moose trip.
When the action is cycled quickly, the base of the cartridge skips to the right with an inch or so more bolt travel to go,jamming the rifle. If I back the the bolt up a ballhair, and then push forward,it will chamber. :?

Does anyone know whats going on? can't take it moose hunting like this :!:

Try another bullet style, maybe it does not like that certain brand of ammo. I have had some Remington rifles that would not feed round nose bullets but were fine with spitzer type bullets. Just a thought also you may want to have a smith look at the mag spring...

My gunsmith has tried 4 different followers and springs and still can't figure it out. I need a new .338 NOW. Too bad as I like this rifle, trigger job, glass bedded into a boyds laminate, and it is a tack driver.

Thanks for the input guys. I just bought another .338 from another nut. I am still holding out hope that the problem will be resolved  but at this point talking a cruise through grizzly infested bush with it would have me looking like this
