Hi all, hoping someone can help me out here.

Purchased an invector style tightwad choke for a friends mossy 500. It says the mossy 500 can use the invector style chokes.

Problem is that while it screws in fine; it leaves a gap between the thick part of the choke (where youd grip it). It doesnt look right at all like the choke tube is longer than it should be.

Anyone ever try a tightwad tube in a mossy 500 know if that gap is normal?

Here is the stock xxfull turkey choke that came with the gun: no gap

The bore should be very slightly smaller diameter where the choke and bore meet. With a flashlight look for the point where the choke and bore meet. It should be obvious that the bore is slightly smaller to allow for the smooth passage of shot from the bore to choke. This fit prevents the shot charge from colliding with the lip of the choke causing a peel out of the choke tube. As along as the choke is seated it is good to go.

It did seem tho that one part of the lip would catch the wad just slightly. I wont try to find out, ill return the tube and try a different one and see if its just a defect with thia tube (maybe it was dropped and has a bend to it)

Update!

Checked OEM tube and it sits almost perfectly flush, barely any noticable lip at all.

BUT

Checked the tightwad again with the new inner checking that was suggested and it fits uniformly!

Now, to clear things up.

Outside gap that i noticed first was on my 500 barrel.

I then brought the tube to my buddys place and checked in his 535 barrel. Same outer gap as that 500.

Checked here and you said to look inside because thats what matters.

Looked inside my buddys 535 and it wasnt sitting properly in there.

Just checked oem tube in the 500. Looked perfect inside.

Checked the tightwad in the 500 and inside fit great! A more noticeable lip than stock but it was uniform and the proper side!!!

So good to go with patterning this tightwad choke on the 500 but i will tell my buddy with the 535 to maybe try another one and see if it fits properly because this one didnt fit it well.

Thanks for your help!

The choke diameter has to be smaller than the bore diameter where they meet this means the end of the choke fits under the cut away of the bore so the wad does not grab the choke other wise you will end up with a stripped choke or a bulged bbl
