So...I just purchased a SIG SSG, and it has no bolt. :bangHead: Spent last week calling around and doing research, with little luck. Everyone seems concerned that "bolts come installed at factory only, because of head spacing issues." Are these rifles not modular, built to extreme specs, and fasten into user changeable barrels? I'm also assuming that the actions are identical to Sauer 200 STR. Therefore either should mate without issues.

If anyone has an idea where to find one, or happens to have one "laying around" I would really like to try it out. With approval from a reputable gun smith of course. And if it works, don't expect to get it back, I'll make trade for $$.
Thanks for any tips!
The original bolt was last seen in the Barrie Ont. area...but I don't expect to find it.

"Headspace" is a pure bs. There is no possibility that SIG makes a bolt custom to a barrel, it is just a laughable excuse not to deal with you.

1) Contact http://mdcfirearms.ca/ which is official distributor. Explain what you need and ask them to provide you with part numbers such that you can place an order from any dealer, dealer will have to put an order through mdc anyway, it is better if mdc gives you instruction what exactly a dealer needs to order. After that any dealer will just needs to place an order for you.

2) You can in fact make it easier for mdc and find our the part #s yourself. This is the manual for ssg 3000

https://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/CmsContent/documents/3-14SIG_SSG3000MiniManual_OM-SSG3000-USA_REV05_HR.PDF

On the page 62 and diagram on 63. You need part # 100 it is even called "Bolt Complete". Or parts from 101 through 113.

Headspace my ass.

Thanks for reply! I did find complete bolt #100, and contacted mdc...but as of Jun 2014...south of the border made it a little harder...impossible? To import SIG products from Germany...anyone have any German friends?

Not great news..but closure..
I just received an e-mail from someone that knew the previous owner. I had purchased it from an estate. He informed me that the bolt locking lugs were sheared off when a reload was accidently charged with pistol powder, the magazine didn't survive either... this makes sense now looking closer at the barrel and random shell that I found in a box of brass that came with it... The barrel has slight damage on retaining lugs..might be scrap.
So, guess it's time to call Germany and ask really nicely if I can send it in for inspection/machining, and return with bolt, as soon as the 'Ban' is lifted. At least I can stop looking for the bolt now...although it would be neat to see the damage.
Thanks everyone for the tips and advice! It's nice to have access to this wealth of knowledge and experience.
I will keep thread posted if/when I have answers/parts.

OUCH! Judging by your photo I would say the barrel extension is scrap. If the rest of the barrel is ok have a gunsmith machine off the extension and thread it and install a Benchmark extension for the SSG 3000. Benchmark barrels also offer complete barrels with their extension and the last time I looked had 5 round mags in stock. Unless you luck out I think the hard part will be replacing the bolt.

Try giving Wolverine Supplies a call. Guy managed to find a Sauer STR 200 match barrel in 6.5x55 for me. The barrels from the STR 200 and the SSG 3000 are interchangeable and so probably are the bolts.

When you order the bolt you might as well get extra mags. They currently run between $200 to $250 each south of the border.
