Notes
Thomas Pattison was a gunmaker in Dublin in about 1800-1820. His address is not uncertain but may have been Crampton Court.
A 6 bore double barrelled percussion fowling piece by M Pattison circa 1840 has been seen.

Mark & John Pattison were recorded from 1835 to 1850.

Robert Pattison was recorded in 1850, and may have continued in business until 1860 when the premises appear to have been taken over by Paddy Garnett (see Paddy Garnett). As with Rigby, the firm sold guns with etched damascus barrels.

I found this on <www.internetgunclub.com>...the best kept secret on the net. Dave

Dingus, Thomas Pattison was a gunmaker in Dublin from about 1800 to 1820. His address is not certain but may have been Crampton Court.

Mark & John Pattison were recorded as being in business together from 1835 to 1850. I would guess that this is the era your gun is from. There is also a record of a John Pattison in Bridlington, Yorkshire acting as a sporting goods dealer from 1840 to 1842, but it could be a different individual. A 6 bore double barrelled percussion shotgun by M Pattison known to be circa 1840 has been seen.

Robert Pattison was recorded in 1850, and may have continued in business until 1860 when the premises appear to have been taken over by one Paddy Garnett. As with Rigby, the firm sold guns with etched damascus barrels.

The information supplied here was provided by Robin J Knowles and the Internet Gun Club.

You have a very interesting pistol in pretty decent shape. It looks like very aggressive rifling in that muzzle shot - or is that just at the muzzle? In any case, you don't see one like that every day.

p.s. Danforth, you beat me to it.

Thanks Guys this is a great start and adds to mooncoons info he emailed me.

Them star shapes in the bores are for a special wrench as you have to un screw the barrels to load this puppy but thats a good thing as the balls cant fall out and makes a more powerfull rd as its nice and tight. :)

I got guys in the US want this big time already so im gona do more reserch.
Anymore info would be great. Heres a simalar but diffrent Rigby useing the same hammer turret and same type of barrels that unscrew with a wrench.
The rest of this one is diffrent but the action is basicaly the same.
This Rigby is listed at $11500 LOL probebly cause it says Rigby.

It may say "Rigby" but then yours was made in Ireland which I would think makes it very desireable. In that period most makers were from the London... Birmingham area of England and most arms were imported into Ireland from there. Once in most lifetimes does something like this come along. Good luck.

Hey Dingus, do you have a drawing of how the "drop down" triggers work in those and many other guns?

Or some pics of "the guts"? I really cant figure out how they work.
