I gave my AR-50 to my father and replaced it with an Steyr .50BMG. I'm thinking of putting a NightForce on it rather than replaceing it with another Schmidt and Bender anyvody else have other ideas?

US Optics - lots of reticle choices and customs upgrades.

I've got an SN3 3.2-17x on the way.

Got NXS 5.5-22 on my 50.....love it.
Lots of elevation adjustment.......
USO are good too, I know, little more $$$...

If you have the money for it, go with US Optics. The CF uses them on their Tac-50's if I'm not mistaken, and they're supposed to be really, really good for .50's.

*EDIT* Sorry, I was mistaken. The CF initially intended to use US Optics on the new Timberwolves, but ended up switching to S&B's because of the USMC's decision to change (thanks for the info Steve).

I have Leupold MK4 on a light hunting 50 , a Nightforce 8x32x56 on another mid weight 50 and a USO 10x42 SNP on my bench rifle. Each has a specific purpose. The Leupy is fast to find targets in as the field of view is bigger than any of the others I have, but for 2000 yard work does not have the magnification I would like, hence the bigger optics on other rifles. The 8x32 is good , not as much mirage on hot days as the SN9, but for seeing 3/4 the way to hell and back NOTHING rivals the SN9. Clarity and repeatbility are second to none with it, but for the $$ there should not be.

My money would be on the Nightforce or Schmidt and Bender line. I've had one USoptics and although it was just one unit, I was not in the least bit impressed, especially after I was told that they were having some issues with them. Now that was just one unit and certainly I think every manufacturer has had some kind of issue.............

If you need a scope to drive railway spikes, I certainly got the impression the USOPTICS line would handle it....at least the housing would take it....
