I don't know if here is the correct place to post this.
But I need some help finding a new middle band for my mauser 71/84 (the barrel band that has sling swivel on it, picture attached as reference).
The one that's currently on my 71/84 was somehow seemed like being punched on its edge a million times by some sort of pin punch and then being crimped by a pipe wrench... and the edge all around it was absolutely dog ####, plus the sling swivel on there was definately not original, not even same style... In short, this is the only S/N mismatch part on my gun that otherwise pristine, and I am thinking of doing something to it.
Instead of paying big bucks for my gunsmith to fix all these dog #### edges, I rather get a new part... but I've tried all auction sites as well as all mil-surp parts stores that I know of in Canada, in the US, and a couple in EU, but none of them have it. (There's actually a French shop that has it, but then it's so rusted and pitted, that the condition isn't something that I could use even for refurbishment).
So I am thinking I might just reach out to you people here, and see if you have any sources, or if you have a parts gun, and somehow that middle band is complete with the sling swivel and isn't rusted or damaged.
