Personally I would bed the rifle and mount a good receiver sight on it. Should be a good knock-about hunting rifle.

Nah, that's more like gluing a sport wing to a Honda Civic. A little heat gun on the two-sided tape, a couple screws, and you're back to stock configuration.

try and get the rear sight bits from your local gunsmith. Get him install it. Then use the right bullets, give it a good cleaning,tighen up the action screws, and she should be good to go . as an after thought, you might want to get the unaltered stock and barrel bands, and do a restoration.

Well to restore you need a 98K stock wood,handguard,bands,rear sight assy and maybe some metal removal of that custom sight,plus a little soldering and wood fitting. With a little luck for 300 or less bucks you will a full military 98K.
You already have the bulk of the parts. Good luck! And as someone said you have regular Third Reich eagle and factory code, which are good too.
