Am the owner of a Remington Model 8 in 35 Rem which came to me through family. From what I can tell by the 4 digit serial number it was likely produced in 1907. The rifle does show its age and has long lost its bluing (no rust/some pitting). It appears to be mechanically sound, however, I have not shot it (really want to though).

Very neat design by Browning, who was simply a genius. I have not seen any references on EE for a price so thought I would try asking folks here. TIA.

I bought one not long ago in 30 Rem that was produced in around 1909-1910 and I got it for 1100
Got a model 81 in 35 Rem and it was 1200
I've seen them from 900 to 1400 depending on condition/rarity
A friend of mine bought one in 25 Rem and he paid 1400 but his came with the rear peep sight which is really sweet
The nice thing about the 35 Rem is you can still buy new ammo for it unlike the other calibers, I'd keep it if it came through family. They are a very neat and cool firearm and by far my favorite Remington ever made
The Bonnie and Clyde!!

Yours being a grey gun from your description might be worth somewhere south of a grand assuming the bore is good. They are cool old rifles, complicated design, intricate machining. The FN made Browning Patent 1900 is the same basic rifle but even fancier machining and nice wood. Super reliable like most things that came from the mind of John Browning. JB Wood said the design is intricate but so well engineered that it is just about impossible to put together wrong.
