Help needed with receiver set screw

Be very gentle, that metal is extremely soft.

Find a small screwdriver, or modify one to fit the slot exactly. Put the screw driver in tap it with a hammer to make sure it's set, then turn.
If this doesn't work you may have to drill it out. If this is the case, don't worry about damaging it... that screw is not really needed if the barrel is installed correctly.

good luck!

If it has been staked, you will have to massage the staking hits out of the way. It is just as easy to carefully drill out the things. If any screw is left, it will shear when the barrel is turned. Don't replace it.

And I have drilled them out in the past, but it's a last resort! :D Like I said before, swapping a barrel is the easy part. Getting that set screw is likely the hardest part of the entire operation.

Cheers and keep helping the newbs!

i've removed 2 of those screws.the first would not come out with a screwdriver so i drilled down until i could smack in an easy out.then it came out easy.
the second came right out with a properly fitting screwdriver.
hint--use valve grinding compound or fine moistened sand on the tip of the screwdriver blade.this ensures the blade will not slip off the screw head.
