so my wife has decided that she wants to do some waterfowling with me this year. I'd like to get her a soft recoiling semi 12 gauge but I only own pumps and don't know anything about who makes a good semi so any help would be appreciated. She's not a very big woman so a smaller gun would be better. Thanks for any help.

If your wife is small and she is not interested in long range goose shooting I would recommend a 20ga autoloader like:

the Remington 11-87 Sportsman Camo autoloader shotgun in 20ga, 7 1/4 lbs, 26" barrel, with Rem choke system.

The light recoil, ease of swing and lighter weight will work excellent.

Then again, I know a few very small women who shoot 12ga trap and sporting clays all day with an O/U no problem. It all depends on what level of confidence she has and if she knows how to properly shoulder a gun... but I expect you've been an excellent teacher. :)

The design of Beretta line semi gave you soft kick plus you can buy different size/ weight of load to reduce the kick. Sometimes a good recoil pad also help a lot.

Thanks for the info, she already shoots a browning bps in 20g for upland and has no problem with it. I suggested using that but I'm pretty sure she's just angling for a new gun, not that I'm complaining lol. I'll get her to handle the 1187 and see if I can find an 1100 for her to play with too. I'll have to look and see whats available around here from benelli or beretta. Keep the idea's coming guys. Thanks.

My Girlfriend is also a Pipsqueak. Five foot nothing and 105 pounds. She uses my Beretta 686 O/U 20g featherweight. Keep the shot light and there is no issue with recoil.
