Hey,

i picked up a cooey model 750 single shot bolt action .22 in Peterborough a few weeks back and after firing only about 4 or 5 rounds at the range it started consistently misfiring. Tried a number of different ammo types with no effect. I'm now assuming that there's a problem with the bolt. Anyone else own one of these? I'm just wondering if the bolts are hard to come by and i wouldn't know where to start when it comes to finding one. I'm in Ottawa now if anyone has any suggestions...

Thanks!

bolts are hard to come by, but you really shouldn't need a bolt. do what 1shot said, check the firing pin for free movement. I had one for years as a kid (started using it when I was 12) and used it for forever. When I left home, Dad kept it (it was his after all) and eventually gave it to my uncle who needed a bolt for one. Just recently bought another and it has fired several hundred rounds so far without a hitch. There really isn't anything to go wrong, just clean it up and I bet it will work great.

You're right... the pin does seem a bit sticky. I can only get it to move when I hold the bolt vertically. I have never taken a bolt apart to clean... Any suggestions / references on cleaning the bolt?

I found a smith in Ottawa today that I'm going to take the bolt to just to let him have a look. Varsol sounds good but I think I'll see what he says after looking at it.
Thanks for the tips!
