Can anyone point me to a retailer who has SR 1911 in stock? The one I had my eye on has evaporated from my supplier. Please private message me if any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

I'm going to throw this out there (my opinion)
The majority of NIB ruger 1911's on the EE probably have loose slides.
People buy them and are un-happy with the rattle trap of a gun, so decide to sell it.
Like come on, how many people buy a gun, don't shoot it, and then sell it right away.
Obviously not all the SR-1911's are like this, but there are some that are.

Also, regarding the SR1911, I wouldn't order one online, find a shop that has one, hold it in your hand and buy one thats tight and doesn't rattle......remember my advice if you ever go to Amsterdam as well Laugh2 Laugh2

Think I cornered one online at Joebrooks, thanks Firlotte for the pointer. If the object of my affection turns up as "out of stock" on Monday morning , will go after Al Simmons - thanks hicabilber. Appreciate the help guys!!!

Damn right.
I went to a local store to buy one, however the SR-1911 in stock made my Norinco feel like a virgin.

Thanks guys, will probe seller on the slide fit.... Am in remote regions, not likely to be walking into gun shop showroom anytime soon...

just got mine from canada ammo with 1000 rounds of norc ammo and couldn't be happier, fit is nice and tight and it looks great. Can't wait to get this out to the range.

Good advice, to buy one in person and check it out.
The way they're pumping them out, to meet demand of the panic buyers, QC is not what it could be.
Or just stick to a Norc., at least you'll be sure of what you are getting!

I totally agree with your reasoning. For a pistol that has been in high demand I sure see a lot of SR1911's in the EE.

Not sure about panic buyer comment. And guns of every description - fired or not - are for sale in the EE.

Actually, Ruger quality control is fine. That's one reason the company is doing so well. SR1911 demand exceeds supply because this 1911 runs "all types" .45 ammo (is in the specification), delivers accurate shot placement and points well - given the price point. This according to the thousands of posts on the subject by users in Canada and US over past two years.

Ruger engineers designed the SR1911 to original John Browning COMBAT specification and slide operational tolerance. This is built as a combat gun - and not a shooting bench queen. Slides "rattled" a bit on actual combat 1911's, but duh - they were supposed to. Performance never an issue, because the slides are fit to work under all conditions. Perhaps, of more concern is a 1911 with "too tight" slide fit. Extra space on the slide rails encourages more reliable operation - as long as the barrel lockup is still tight. Is a little like the debate over tolerance on AR uppers and lowers. Ruger engineers have already weighed in on this, and a little play in the slide is designed in and normal.

Not commenting on the choices of others. Many choices and price points, lots of good product out there - including the SR1911.

I ordered one from Wanstalls about a month ago. They are a board sponsor, were very helpfull over the phone and 11 days later, it arrived in the mail. It seems to be tight and rattle free and I am very happy with the whole process and product. It was 770.00 to my door. Hope this helps.
