Hi Guys,
I'm new to reloading, what are those indentations ruining the brass when I Full Length resize them?

Here is the info:

- Winchester Brass
- Bought virgin, FL resized and shot, NK sized and shot and then FL resize=crap on me
- I can FL resized my once fired Federal without any problem between getting this with the Winchester that I'm talking about.
- The dent is forming everytime at the same place.
- Headspace go down by 0.00055" by Full Length resizing

possibly using to much lube
clean yer dies with solvent and dry
try again, if problem persists through tantrum

That's excess lube on the case shoulder that gets compressed and dents the brass during the sizing process.

The shoulder should be dry, with only a very small amount of lube applied to the body of the case and inside the case mouth.

BTW those dented cases are still usable, they'll likely get ironed out when fired.

signs of too much lube with a flick of dust in the die , clean the die and lube only the body of the case not the neck

I would chuck out those brass and try it again with only one drop of oil on the pad this time

Thanks guys, you solved it!

I cleaned the die and did not applied lube on shoulder and no more dent on the brass.

What threw me off the most is that I would try a older Fed spent case between the Win cases and they would not produce that dent.

I wouldn't chuck them. I've used tons of brass with small dings here and there. 60000psi + has a funny way of ironing them right out.

try spray on lube by lyman or RCBS works great
