Folks - I have a Colt Commander 9 mm which I think was made in the 60's (sN 7###LW). It is in very good condition with a little bit of holster wear. I have a person who wants to buy it, but i have no idea what a fair price is.

It is pretty much stock with the exception of having a set of Pachmayr grips on it (I have the originals as well).

If anyone can tell me when it was made and what its worth, please let me know.

Thanks

My Colt book says 1951 for Colt Commander from sn 6000LW to 20299LW

If I had the cash I'd pay $600 to $700 depending on condition. Got any pics?

You should be able to get $650 - $750 for a Commander of that vintage, especially if you still have the original box, papers & magazine. While not particularly rare in Canada you seldom see the older Commanders come up for sale. In the past 2 years I've been fortunate enough to have bought two Colt Combat Commanders [all steel pistols] off the EE here on CGN. Both of the 'Series 70' type. One in 9mm and the other in .45ACP. They don't sell cheap unless you want to be generous. ;)

Is that slide really plum colored or is it just the light & contrast with the black finish on the aluminum frame?

No - its just the crappy photo. Its a matte colour. Original grips are the same as in prproulx's picture.

Thanks for the information guys, if the deal falls through, I will post on the EE section.
