Hi Folks,

I posted this on pistols with no luck so I will try here. I just picked-up a pistol which I need help identifying. Looks like a Tokagypt, left of slide has, front to back," (a hammer and sickle symbol), parabellum cal.9mm + 7.62 TT" right slide has, back to front, "(triangle symbol), HP ###X S U P E R , (12 inside a circle). Came with 5 mags two with the pistol serial number and finger rest on the bottom, one plain. Any ideas?

Thanks
SW

Well, completely out of the blue it is hard to know.

Try surfing google for images of Tokarov pistols and other Warsaw Pact handguns. The fact it is dual calibre suggests it is a modern made-for-sale model, possibly new Chinese or Yugo. Send the description to the good folks at Marstar to see if they can help.

Next question: how did you buy it without getting it registered and verified ....?

It is registered, listed as a Tokagypt. But I am curious as to why a Tokagypt would have a hammer and sickle on it. Always Google first. Will try to post pics.

Well, I believe (again, I'm not sure) that some were military diverted to commercial production. Or it could be that it was a normal manufacturers mark, I don't think it would have been sanitised with communist imagery removed just for the commerical market.

Let me guess; it has either a "10" or an "02" on the trigger? These are Hungarian (Factory 10 or 02) "Super 12" Tokarevs, made for export.
