Hi

I am trying to resize .308 brass in to 7mm-08 and I am getting dimples
on the shoulder. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong please.

Thanks in Advance

too much lube on the shoulder.
dont have so much lube on the cases and the problem will go away.
Lube does not compress, therefore it crushes your case a bit.

Yup, buy 7-08 brass. The 308 stuff could end up with the neck thickness being too thick requiring inside and or outside reaming. Either way it could cause high pressure due to the thickness.

With the easy availability of 7mm-08 brass I wouldn't bother forming brass. Especially with all the extra work req'd on the neck as the other posters said. Stop by your local store of order some from Wholesale Sports, Russels or LeBarons.

Actually, with a SAAMI chamber, a thicker neck is probably a good think. Measure the OD of a piece of fired brass, then measure the OD of a pice of 308 brass sized to 7mm08. The sized brass should be .003 smaller than the fired brass for optimal accuracy. But you won't be able to get it that close, the SAAMI chamber has quite a bit of space and the additional thickness of 308 brass is nowhere near enough. In my guns, anyway; Don't take my word for it, measure your own.

Actually, FWIW, I've never had a piece of 308 brass sized to 7mm08 that wasn't still well within spec for a 7mm08 brass anyway.

You beat me to it, Prosper. I was going to say the same thing, that he will probably end up with more accurate loads using reformed 308 brass. i have never seen a factory chamber that was too tight in the neck using reformed brass.

Same with resizing 30-06 to 25-06. The groups are distinctively smaller than with factory 25-06 brass. :)

ThankvYou All For The Feedback, I am healed

Gentlemen

Thanks a lot for all the advice. And yes, it was the lube on the shoulder.
Now I have perfectly formed brass from Lapua .308.

Cheers
