Looking for help pricing Leopold VX 2 scope.

Bought it new about 17 years ago.
It has been well cared for, minimal or no visible marks or scratches.

It is a VX 2, one inch tube, 6 x 18 power.
The recital was called long range varmint.
And it has adjustable parallax on the front bell.

I want to sell to a friend, for a fair price.
He recently retired and it is going on his first target rim fire.
We go out year round, so the scope is not "out of season"

What would this sell for?

If you wanted to do the research - find what an equivalent VX-Freedom (new) with similar features would sell for - including PST and GST. Then consider that your unit is 17 years old. - likely 60% or 80% at most - likely less. VX-Freedom will have similar or identical internals to a VX-II, likely a step up in lens coatings, though.

I have bought probably 6 or more centerfires scopes in past 2 years (new and used). I would not pay more than $300 to $350 (shipped to me) for that one - but I might be all out to lunch on what I think... A quick look at a banner sponsor showed 30mm bodies and side focus - I believe the features that you have - 1" body and AO - might have "gone out of vogue"...

Another thought that might also be way out of vogue these days - some of us simply give our used stuff to a friend who is looking ... Usually the favour gets returned some where down the line - maybe not from that exact person, but typically, "what goes around, tends to come around".

$300 might be a strong ask for it these days. Older scopes don't always command what they should for resale. I bought a used VX3 1.5-5x for $250 a few years back. It was fresh back from a refresh at Korth with a clean bill of health. Can't argue with that.

Yew two up ahhbuv is a wee bit lite awn yer ker-ching.
$350 in the EE won’t last’till sunday after mass.

Midnight Mass or mid-morning Mass ??? ;)
$300 for your buddy and $350 for everybody else if the op really needs to sell it.
Leupold will last an entry level hunter till he is well experienced .
In other words it will last a loooong time and serve well.

i ve got a very old vari x iii for the same price as you and when i wanted a reticle changes on it they sent me a new v3hd for the price of the reticle change ... the scope was not fixable from their view. and as you did not fight that much lol ...
