Help removing recoil buffer from BT APC9

I’m trying to remove the recoil buffer out of my APC9 to put into a different B&T stock. I popped out the roll pin. But for the life of me I don’t seem to be able to twist or pull out the recoil buffer. Do any of you have any experience with this? Advice please. See pic below.

Electric tape the jaws of an adjustable pile, and then rotate it back and forth until it looses up.
