Help! Savage #4 mk1

I Have a Savage #4 mk1*
Does anyone know if the date of mfg. is stamped anywhere
other than the left socket?

I've seen ones dated 1941 and 1942. Otherwise they are undated. You might be able to get an estimate of date of production from the serial number.

Agreed. Post the serial number with the last 2 digits X'd out. I should be able to tell you if 43 or 44. Production stopped early in the summer of 1944 with a 0C###XX serial number. No one knows exactly what the last serial produced was though.

That's mid 1943. Hope that helps. Not enough data to narrow it any further.

I have some British & LB #4s, this is my first savage.
I didnt know some do not have mfg. dates.
