hey

in the market for a scope for my hunting rifle. $$$ is limited (toys are expensive). i am considering the bushnell line cause its in the price range. there seems to be a few similar products in the bushnell line with no discernable difference (ie: legend, sportsman, banner, and trophy). can anyone shed some light on subject?

i was considering something like 4-12 variable.

by the way what does AO indicate when refering to the scope power?

also open to suggestions if anyone can suggest something better than bushnell for around the same $$$.

was planning on ordering from USA. apparently this is a problem (it's a scope you look through it, whats the deal), any thoughts?

thanks

AO is adjustable objective. "front focus". Others may have side paralax or side focus which is easier to do since it's closer to you, which the higher end scopes have. If if you want to be satisfied go for the Bushnell Elite series and you won't find better in that range for the price.
3200: 4-12x, 5-15x
4200: 2.5-10x, 4-16x
6500: 2.5-16x

I agree with the Elite recommendation, fine scopes at any cost.
I have the Dusk to Dawn Bushnell on my .17 HMR and am more than happy with it, no bells and whistles just a decent scope that works well. I could use smaller crosshairs in it though, especially with a HMR, but other than that there are no complaints. I picked it up at Wall Mart for around $200.
My wife uses the Burris on her rifle, you are starting to creep up in cost with one of those and I personally don't see much difference between that and the dusk to Dawn series.

Well it all depends on the preferance
I like to use wide angle scope for my intentions
I agree that price is always consideration
I use bsa mil-dot hunting rifle scope
mil dot gives you more flexibility for range adjustments for one if you go to
www.bsaoptics.com might give you some options
with the wide angle you see a lot more arround it is easier to sight

Mine has a range finder (electronic) it has a compensator
and all I paid at a gun show about 130 if you want more specs on my scope you can email me at sysadmin@tbaytel.net

Hope that helps

Scope

What caliber rifle are you planning on putting this new scope on?
The new 2008 pricing on the 3-9 3200 is like $214.00, If I was on a budget that would be my choice. FS

What are you hunting and over what sort of terrain and distances? I'd skip AO on a hunting rifle, especially if cost is a concern. Even if cost isn't a concern, its suitability for hunting is questionable. Although we have no idea what you are hunting, a 3-9x is a good fit for many applications.
