Hi, thanks for looking. Anyhow, I recently acquired this VZ24 that has been rebarreled with a bull barrel 24" tube with .920" crown. It is bedded into a laminated
thumbhole stock. It is smooth, and feeds awesome. It weighs about 12 pounds unscoped. Anyhow, the scope bases it came with are mismatched. The rear is about 2 or 3 mm too low for the front base. They are weaver 46 and 55 bases. I didn't realize it, tried to scope it, and almost ruined (or may have) a new scope. Anyhow, I've never "shimmed" a base, but a thick shim like that seems like a recipe for instability. The action appears unaltered as there looks to be no action grinding and the receiver tops are smooth and round. What do I do?
What kind of base can I use to "make up" the height discrepancy? Does anyone know the correct base combination? This rifle is useless to me unless I figure out
how to scope it.
