Hi Guys ..... I have come across a Colt 1911 commemerative, series 70 Gold Cup "75th Anniversary Camp Perry model". Only 200 were manufactured in 1978, and it is similar to a Gold Cup except for the commemerative markings. Both sides are engraved with Camp Perry Anniversary and are gold filled. It comes in a wood box, which shows some damage and this pistol has been fired, an unknown number of rounds.

I would like to add this shiny toy to my (rather limited) collection, but don't want to pay too much. There must be a gun nut or two out there who know the value of these things. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

thanx for looking

Found This

I found a 71 edition online for 1350 US. In box and looks to be in good condition.

I don't want to post the URL as it might be the one you are looking at! :D

PM me if you can't find it on your own and I'll send you the link.

The Blue Book says $1250 US$ for 100%, $995 for $98%, $750 for 95%.
That is based on having a market the size of the USA to sell it to. Canadian values are going to be less.

Traditionally, "commemorative" 'Colt' 1911's don't hold their value in the Canadian market. That is don't buy one as an 'investment'... ;) The Blue Book, an American publication, can be used as a guide. I've found over the years that the used Colt 1911 market in Canada is whatever the going rate for one in your geographic area is [in Canadian dollars]. The fact that this one has been shot takes it out of the 'collector' realm and puts it into the 'shooter' realm. It will bascially be whatever a comparable 'shooter' Colt 1911 goes for in your area, with maybe a bit of a premium tacked on because of it's 'unique-ness'. Personally, as described, I wouldn't be willing to pay more than $650 for it.

Once it's been shot...it's only worth, with a possible "I just want it premium",
as much as any other comparable 'shooter'.
The Canadian market just doesn't support a 'collector's segment'.....
