I have been trying to order an item from Cameraland NY and while they have a box to check for Canadian Orders, when I get to the pay area, I am blocked because I can't find a place to give my province; I guess if I don't live in a State, I don't exist:eek:

What am I doing wrong on their order page?:runaway:

I have tried to find the same item in Canada and while it can be ordered, it is not in stock and I was told that the Canadian warehouse is slow in shipping to retail dealers.

Maybe has to do with this..

Unfortunately, at this time we are not allowed to ship this product outside of the United States due to U.S. Federal regulations. All of the following items listed below are also subject to this restriction:

1. Night Vision Equipment and Night Vision Accessories such as: Monoculars, Binoculars, Goggles, Weapon Sights, Cameras, and Multipurpose Systems of Generation 2, 3, 4, or 5
2. Thermal Imaging Equipment, Heat Seekers and Weapon Mounted Accessories
3. Optical Sighting Equipment, Accessories, and Mounting Hardware of any kind, including: Riflescopes, Holographic Sights, Reflex Sights, Red Dot Sights, Laser Sights, and Bore Sights.
4. Tactical Flashlights and other sorted accessories for the above listed equipment.

Also, if an item is intended to be attached to or to be used with a weapon of any kind, we will not export and will not assist directly or indirectly with exporting it!

Thats what I got from OpticsPlanet when I tried to order a bolt for a ACOG.

I tried to order some Leica binocs from Cameraland last year from their website and had the same problem. I called them, and the guy (Scott I believe it was) told me that Canadian orders needed to be made by telephone if paying by credit card. Apparenly this is stated some where on their website, but I never saw it. Just phone them.

Spotting scopes are OK to get from the U.S...........there are no permits required for them............even Laser Ranger Finders do not require Export permits..............

I order my Leica Range Finder from Camera Land and paid through their website with no problem............

SKBY.

Problem Solved with Cameraland!

I sent them an email with lots of RED ink and had a phone call within 40 minutes. The red ink did it!

Here is what I said to them:

"I have been trying all day to make an on-line order from your website - to no avail.

I live in Ottawa, Ont. Canada and have had no success whatsoever. Your website is NOT user friendly to Canadians!

I am a member of Canadian Gun Nuts where your Doug has a commercial membership as gr8fuldoug.

But, when I tried to order a PENTAX SPOTTING SCOPE PF-63 with Eyepiece Demo at $299.99 No Way could I get through the order process!

So, I posted to CGN Optics for HELP! One reply thought perhaps it was a rifle scope or stuff that you are not allowed to ship out of country. Not so.

But another poster said, that he had the same problem in trying to order binocs, neither could he find the Canadian provinces listed and was stopped too
and said apparently some where on your site, you say that out-of-country orders must be done by phone because of payment by credit card.

So, I tried every way possible to phone to you on 866 9OPTICS AND COULD NOT GET THROUGH.

Do you want this order or not?

If I do not get a call before 5.30pm EDT today, I will make other arrangements."

I had the same problem on their website. No doubt because many of us tried to slide in an order for scopes.

I called them and received great service. Even emails were replied to very quickly (without any red I might add).

I ordered the Swarovski range finder and received it within a week. As advertised, and I'd even say better. The Pentax 65ED that I ordered should be here in about a week as well. Spotting scopes, binoculars, and range finders don't require export permits.

Cameraland is a site sponsor and so far I've been favourably impressed.

Thanks to all who posted responses yesterday. It was well after 4pm EDT when I sent the "bloody" email to CML-NY as a last resort.

I know of the solid reputation here at CGN of CM-NY and the service Doug and others provide.

Last week, thru CGN, I sent an enquiring PM to Doug re: my needs. This was never answered. Perhaps, he was away. I know that he names another person to handle phone calls from us when he is away, but of course not to respond to his PMs here. I did not at that time try a phone call.

This is the first time that I have ever spiced up an email with red ink. I need the spotter ASAP. I tried to find a seller in Canada first. No one I could find had one in stock and would need to order from Pentax Canada, who was described as "slow" in shipping.

Thus, yesterday, I tried Cameraland NY throught their web site, no good, then tried for 1/2 hour to get through on their "toll-free line" a Bell problem, not a problem at Camerland.

I anticipate the scope arriving by Friday. :dancingbanana:

I apologize to one and all about the lack of PM attention lately. I was in Panama for a week fishing, came back for 5 days and then went to cabo for another week of fishing. Neil does take care of things for me while I am out, however, he does not check my PM's as he does not have the access.
If you ever have any troubles with our site please just call us. There is no reason that any transactions should cause any stress.

I dealt with Neil over the phone. Good service.
I've received my Swarovski range finder and the Pentax PF-65ED. I'm very happy with both.
